coming through!

well, i said i would do it, and here i am, doing it!

so late last month we pushed the button on a new, full-size akane, and late last week, she showed up on our doorstep.

"but claire," you may be asking, "why are you getting a new body for the girlfriend who already has the newest body of your whole poly-yam-orous household?"

it's a good question! hopefully you'll be interested in the answer even if you weren't actually asking it like i said you might be.

everybody around here is at least a little busted up, you know?

obviously, i've gone on and one about my own old body (r.i.p. but also "yawn," old news), and maybe somewhere along the way i've posted about ariel hurting her back. probably i haven't said anything about sasha's hurt leg, but she's had a hurt leg. hettie is chugging along like a champ, but she is showing a little wear and tear. and of course, the wearingest and tearingest is msg, who has to be super careful of his own back these days or it'll go out like a router when the power's out. meanwhile, akane's shoulder has been loose for ages, which makes it pretty hard for her to hold a wide variety of poses when picture-taking. (and for those keeping count, remember, elle shares a body with me.)

we've been on the fence for a while now about getting a new full-size doll -- first because we were thinking about a replacement body for aers, then because we found a doll that almost might serve as a good replacement body for me and elle. problem was, the replacement for aers wouldn't be able to swap heads, and the one for me and elle was from a company we didn't know too well. so at least one person around here who shall go unnamed was fretful about it.

and then for some reason, that person (okay, it's msg already) realized that if we got a full-size akane, she'd be able to pose for photos, and she'd probably also be able to swap heads out with me and elle with a little finagling.

he thought about it. we thought about it. he thought about it some more.

and here are the results!

msg being msg was worried she'd show up and turn out to be an akane, but not our akane ... meaning, something about the larger doll would not quite fit with akane's personality. thankfully, that idea was dispelled almost instantly once we freed her from her shipping box. (in retrospect, msg said, "i guess it's always been true that akane has almost too much personality to fit in her adorable little body. so it makes sense she's got enough to fill this one up too.")

she's different, obviously ... over half again as tall and a lot heavier. (watch that back, msg!) and not to give her a complex, but she's got kind of a big head. that is, her wig doesn't fit it in the same proportions as the small doll's did.

also (and this is very important) she's an excellent hugger. the little version just didn't have the arm span.

jeepers, look at the time! well, i said i might do a poem, so let's give it a shot.

claire
